The Volunteer State Community College Pioneers are back on the court and back on the field this spring. Men and Women’s Basketball, Baseball, and Softball seasons are officially underway. There are some changes this year, due to COVID-19 precautions.

The college will be back to in-person classes on all four campuses for the fall semester while also offering online classes for students who still want those formats.

President Jerry Faulkner Announces Retirement

Jerry Faulkner, president of Volunteer State Community College, has announced that he will be retiring this summer. Faulkner will have served as president for more than nine years, guiding the college through a period of growth and challenge. “It has been a great privilege and honor to have served in the Vol State college community,” Faulkner said. “My time here has been the most rewarding of my life.”

Vol State Brings Virtual Teaching Skills to European OSHA Clients

Virtual learning has expanded in many ways during the Covid-19 pandemic. Now, staff members at Volunteer State Community College are taking virtual teaching techniques and applying them to a new audience, one that is well outside the usual focus of Middle Tennessee. Vol State is home to an OTIEC (OSHA Training Institute Education Center). OSHA health and safety training organized by Vol State reaches companies and employees across the southeast United States. A program is taking that education global as part of a U.S. Army Europe training initiative.

FAFSA Zoom Session February 16

Volunteer State Community College is holding a free Zoom Internet video session to help current and future students fill out the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). It will be held on Tuesday, February 16 from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. To register email: financial.aid@volstate.edu. The deadlines for FAFSA forms to be turned-in have been extended this year. The deadline is now March 1 for TN Promise students and May 15 for TN Reconnect students.

All Vol State campuses are open for business. We are here to help you get ready for classes.  We can also help you with many things via email, with an online meeting or over the phone. Wilson County Resolution Marking Vol State 50th Anniversary

Volunteer State Community College is celebrating 50 years of service to residents of Wilson County and the other 10 counties in the college service area. Groundbreaking for the Vol State Gallatin campus was held on a cold and blustery day in November of 1970. The college opened for classes in October of 1971. Vol State is in the funding and design process for building a new campus in Mt. Juliet.
