Entertainment Media Production combines several areas with the same purpose: getting students trained and plugged into the entertainment industry in Tennessee.
Courses of Study
Tracks in the Entertainment Media Production A.A.S. degree include concentrations in the following:
There is also a University Parallel A.S. degree concentration in Recording Industry Management to serve students who are preparing to transfer to a B.A. program.
Collaborations
The Entertainment Media Production program regularly collaborates with other programs on campus, most notably with the Music Department, and highlights student talents each semester. As one of the final classes in the program, Entertainment Media Production students in all tracks come together for a capstone project - a college version of Music Row where students work in teams on a real-world music project.
Experience and Partnerships
Program director Steve Bishir is a five-time Grammy Award winner and has mixed more than 120 number-one singles in audio production. All faculty members bring years of experience and many industry connections to the program, and partnerships with entertainment businesses in the area are an important part of the program for students. Guests who have visited program classes include Troy Tomlinson (Sony ATV Publishing), Don Cason (Music Services), Gordon Kennedy (songwriter/producer/touring musician), and Michael Harrington (musicologist, lecturer at Harvard University).
