Welcome to Vol State

We have Commit to Completion flags up on our campuses for the start of the semester. They're intended to set a tone for the coming school-year and remind you why you are here. Committing to Completion means that you will earn your degree or certificate. It's most important to remember that commitment when times get tough, as they inevitably will. We'll have boards on all of the campuses this week that you can sign to show your commitment.

Here are a few ideas to help you do well in your classes:

Vol State Gallery Features Works by Matt Eddmenson

The Art Gallery at Volunteer State Community College will be showing the work of artist Matt Eddmenson of Nashville. The exhibit is open to the public. A graduate of The Art Academy of Cincinnati, Eddmenson draws from a range of influences and sources for his practice, including Cowboy Comics, Pop Art, and the work of Cy Twombly. His works are gatherings and reconfigurations of American imagery and iconography, commonly featuring cowboys, skulls, and rodeo horses. He also incorporates images from the golden age of comics and tattoo culture.

Vol State Supporters Wish Faulkner Farewell

College supporters turned out recently to wish Volunteer State Community College president, Jerry Faulkner, a good retirement. Faulkner has served as Vol State president for more than nine years. The event was held at the Lighthouse Center in Hendersonville. A portrait of Faulkner was unveiled. It was painted by Memphis artist Glenda Shaw Brown and will hang in the Ramer Great Hall on the Vol State Gallatin campus.

New Gallatin Greenway to Connect at Vol State

A new grant provides funding for a Gallatin greenway segment that will include part of the campus at Volunteer State Community College. The twelve foot wide path will run across the front of campus near Nashville Pike and eventually be the middle portion of a greenway from downtown Gallatin to Station Camp, where it will connect to the Sumner County greenway. The Tennessee Department of Transportation is providing $950,000 for the grant. The project is expected to take several years to complete.

New WVCP Radio Show Highlights Life on Vol State Campus
