WVCP-FM 88.5 is a community radio station run by Volunteer State Community College. It has been serving the area with music, news, and public affairs programing for more than forty years. A new radio show will go into more depth about Vol State in a talk show format and podcast. The Vol State Chat will be airing weekly on Thursdays at noon on WVCP. The first show airs on August 12. It features interviews with students, faculty, and staff, highlighting interesting activities and academic work. The goal is to also provide information about how members of  the public can get involved at Vol State. It will be hosted by Eric Melcher, who works in the Public Relations Office at the college.

“We call it Chat for a reason,” Melcher said. “We want it to be a fun conversation with many different people each week, including Vol State students, faculty, and staff. We’ll also talk about upcoming events and other ways the public can join us on our campuses. People can tune in on WVCP on Thursdays at noon or listen to the Podcast when they have time on their phone or tablet.”

“WVCP is excited to promote what’s happening around campus in a more in-depth format, in addition to the announcements our air personalities have been able to share,” said general manager, Dianna Monk.
