Author Ronda Rich Returns for 2022 Educate a Woman

Best-selling author and syndicated columnist, Ronda Rich, returns as the featured presenter at the 2022 Educate a Woman luncheon on April 1. The event supports scholarships for women at Volunteer State Community College. Rich began her career as a sportswriter covering NASCAR and came to national attention with the book What Southern Women Know (That Every Woman Should). The popularity of the book launched her as a storyteller, spinning tales of the South as seen through the eyes of its people.

Vol State Educate a Woman Raises $84,000

The 2021 Educate a Woman luncheon held in May raised $84,000 to support scholarships for women at Volunteer State Community College, a new record total for the event. Comedienne Karen Mills was the keynote speaker. Three hundred people attended. The Volunteer State College Foundation organizes the luncheon. The Summa Cum Laude sponsors were long-time partner Sumner Regional Medical Center, and new donors, Subaru of Gallatin, and Facebook. Since 2008, the luncheon has provided scholarships for 88 women.

Comic Karen Mills at 2020 Educate a Woman Luncheon

Stand-up comedian Karen Mills will bring her humor to the stage as keynote speaker at the 2020 Educate a Woman (EAW) luncheon on March 27. The event supports scholarships for women at Volunteer State Community College. Mills has been in the humor business for more than 21 years, touring clubs, colleges, and theaters across the country. A publicist said: “She finds the funny in everyday life and that didn’t change when she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She was determined to take on the disease with hope and humor.

Educate a Woman Raises More than $37,000

The 2019 Educate a Woman luncheon raised more than $37,000 to support scholarships for women at Volunteer State Community College. Best-selling author and syndicated columnist, Ronda Rich, was the featured presenter for the sold-out event. Four hundred people attended. A highlight of the luncheon was an emotional video testimonial from student Anedra Moore, who has overcome many challenges to attend college and received scholarship support that is helping make her dream come true.
