Comic Karen Mills at 2020 Educate a Woman Luncheon

Stand-up comedian Karen Mills

Stand-up comedian Karen Mills will bring her humor to the stage as keynote speaker at the 2020 Educate a Woman (EAW) luncheon on March 27. The event supports scholarships for women at Volunteer State Community College. Mills has been in the humor business for more than 21 years, touring clubs, colleges, and theaters across the country. A publicist said: “She finds the funny in everyday life and that didn’t change when she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She was determined to take on the disease with hope and humor. Now cancer free, she has been hailed for her ability to bring humor to difficult topics as she recently did when she spoke at the National Alliance for Ovarian Cancer in Washington, D.C.”

An RSVP is required for EAW 2020 and there is a suggested minimum donation of $50 requested at the event. Thus far Educate a Woman has raised over $236,224 for scholarships. The 2020 event will be held at the First Baptist Church of Hendersonville at 106 Bluegrass Commons Blvd. Registration starts at 11 a.m. and the lunch and program at 11:30 a.m. This year’s title sponsors are Sumner Regional Medical Center & Carpenter Cancer Center at Sumner Station and Subaru of Gallatin.
