Wilson County Resolution Marking Vol State 50th Anniversary

Volunteer State Community College is celebrating 50 years of service to residents of Wilson County and the other 10 counties in the college service area. Groundbreaking for the Vol State Gallatin campus was held on a cold and blustery day in November of 1970. The college opened for classes in October of 1971. Vol State is in the funding and design process for building a new campus in Mt. Juliet.

Fundraiser Held for New Wilson County Campus

The Volunteer State Community College Foundation held an event at Beretta Vineyards in Mt. Juliet recently to launch the effort to locate a Vol State campus in Wilson County. The McFarland family donated 2.5 acres of land and the college is purchasing an additional 7.5 acres for the campus. It will be located on East Division Street in Mt. Juliet, a half mile east of the Mt. Juliet Chamber of Commerce building. It was the site of the long-time McFarland family farm.
