Spring Music Showcase Concerts

The annual Spring Music Showcase concerts at Volunteer State Community College will highlight original student works. The April 26 and 27 shows will also highlight the talents of the Jazz Ensemble, Rock Ensemble, and Bluegrass Ablaze group. The concerts bring together many facets of the Vol State curriculum, including students in the Entertainment Media Production program. A CD of student work will be available for sale at the show and at the Vol State Bookstore in Gallatin. It was recorded in the Vol State recording studios.

Christmas Dreams Concert

Students at Volunteer State Community College will be celebrating the season with two nights of festive song and dance. “Christmas Dreams” will feature several groups from the Performing Arts Department. The Vol State Showstoppers will present choreographed performances, while the Vol State Singers will highlight choral music. Familiar Christmas favorites will be performed by the Commercial and Jazz Music Ensembles, and country musical renditions by Bluegrass Ablaze. The concerts are a venue for a CD release of Vol State student work.

Vol State Singers Perform November 18

Choral music will take center stage on Sunday, November 18 as the Vol State Singers perform sacred and secular seasonal music, accompanied and a cappella, including works by the composers Hassler, Scarlatti, Berger, Handel, Whitacre, and Koppin. The Vol State Singers are led by Nancy Slaughter and will be accompanied by faculty member Nicholas Reynolds on the piano. The concert is free and open to everyone. It will be held at 3 p.m. in the Wemyss Auditorium in Caudill Hall on the Vol State campus in Gallatin. Vol State is located at 1480 Nashville Pike.

Paul Brock Band: Irish Performers in Two Concerts

Celebrated Irish performer, Paul Brock, brings Celtic, Irish and Global music to Volunteer State Community College for two performances. Several Irish musicians and dancers join him in the Paul Brock Band. Brock is an accomplished accordion and melodeon player who has performed at venues across the world, including the Grand Ole Opry. The first free concert will be held on November 14 at 7 p.m. in Caudill Hall on the Vol State campus in Gallatin at 1480 Nashville Pike. No tickets are required.
