Vol State Student Receives Prestigious National Scholarship

Volunteer State Community College student, Savannah Stover of Nashville

Volunteer State Community College student, Savannah Stover of Nashville, has been selected as a recipient of the prestigious Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship. The highly competitive national award provides students with up to $40,000 a year to complete their bachelor’s degrees. Over 1,300 students from 370 community colleges applied for the 2021 scholarship. Only 72 students were selected. The Cooke Foundation evaluated each submission based on students’ academic ability and achievement, financial need, persistence, and leadership. Savannah Stover has a 4.0 GPA and just graduated with an Associate of Science degree in Mass Communication. She plans to continue at Vol State in the summer to pursue an associate of arts degree and then transfer to a university in the fall. Stover is the mother of seven children.
