The Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) Associate Degree Board of Commissioners has reaffirmed accreditation of the business programs at Volunteer State Community College. Vol State has associate of applied science degrees, designed for direct entry into the workforce. The college also offers business degrees designed for university transfer.
ACBSP offers specialized business accreditation for all degree levels, from associate to baccalaureate to doctoral degree programs. ACBSP accreditation certifies that the teaching and learning processes for the programs offered through the Business and Technology Division at Vol State meet the rigorous educational standards established by ACBSP. The business programs at Vol State were first accredited by ACBSP in 1998, making Vol State among the first to achieve ACBSP accreditation. The College is required to go through the reaffirmation process every 10 years to maintain ACBSP accreditation.
“Volunteer State Community College has shown its commitment to teaching excellence and to the process of quality improvement by participating in the accreditation process,” said ACBSP Chief Accreditation Officer Steve Parscale, who will present the Certificate of Reaffirmation of Accreditation at ACBSP Conference 2020 in Chicago on June 28.
“Reaffirmation is an important stamp of excellence for Vol State business programs and the faculty and staff that serve our students and community,” said Andrew White, dean of Business and Technology at Vol State. “It validates that our programs offer excellent pathways for students to gain the knowledge and business skills sought by today’s employers. The accreditation and reaffirmation process is rigorous. It not only evaluates quality but also stimulates significant improvements. Our students will be benefitting from this effort for many years to come.”
