Melanie Cochran, co-owner of the Wild Cow vegetarian restaurant in Nashville, will discuss “American Stew” the melting pot of American cuisine on Wednesday, October 21 at 11:30 a.m. The virtual presentation is open to the public and will examine how imperialism, slavery, immigration, technology, politics, and popular culture have shaped a uniquely American cuisine. Cochran is also an assistant professor of History at Vol State. She has an interest in food justice and environmental issues related to factory farming and animal welfare. The lecture is part of Cultural Connections Week, organized by the Vol State. The presentation will be held on Zoom.
