Classes started (recently) at Vol State. Students arrived on campus looking by turns excited, scared, too cool to be here, optimistic, sleepy, and confused. I suspect they’re not the main readers of this [blog], so I’m here to offer you three ways you can help alleviate some of the negative feelings and bolster the positive to support your Humanities (or any other major) student.
Here are three tips for success in your Vol State classes, from Len Assante, Assistant Dean of Humanities and

Online classes don’t have to be isolating. On-campus classes don't have to be isolating either. We have several virtual ways for you to keep informed this semester and connect with other students.
We strongly encourage you to "Like" our main Vol State Facebook page this semester. It's like a virtual campus. We provide students with reminders, important information, and student success tips.
Extensive mentoring, counseling, and tutoring are just a few of the services that are provided in the TRIO Student Support Services program at Volunteer State Community College. The program has been awarded $1.375 million in funding by the U.S. Department of Education for another five-year cycle: 2020-2025. Vol State has served students with TRIO services since 2005.
