President Montague Open House Events in Upper Cumberland

Volunteer State Community College will hold two open house events on November 18 at each campus location in the Upper Cumberland to introduce the community to the new college president, Dr. Orinthia Montague.  President Montague started her position on September 1. Vol State at Cookeville’s open house will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the campus located at 1000 Neal Street in Cookeville.

Vol State RN Nursing Program Graduates Celebrate

Volunteer State Community College celebrated the graduation of the second class of Nursing students today with a pinning ceremony in Caudill Hall. Thirty-eight students from the Gallatin and Livingston groups are graduating this year with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Nursing. The program prepares students to apply to sit for licensure as a Registered Nurse.

Vol State Nursing Program is Underway

Volunteer State Community College’s new Associate of Applied Science degree in Nursing is now available. The first cohort of nursing students started the program in May.

Each year, a limited number of students will be admitted to the program at the Gallatin and Livingston campuses. The Nursing program application will be available in the spring, with classes starting in the summer. 

Cyber Defense Degree at Vol State Livingston

Cybercrimes are in the news on a daily basis. Major corporations, government offices, and banks have been hacked. Many individuals are victims. The 2018 Cyber Security Breaches Survey said that 43% of businesses were hit by a cyber security breach in the last 12 months. The solution to cybercrime prevention is cyber defense. Companies across the world are expanding and refining their security systems. Volunteer State Community College is training students in cyber defense expertise through a degree concentration in the field.

New Evening Degree Program Starts this Fall in Livingston

The fall semester is the start of a college career for many students. Volunteer State Community College at Livingston has many areas of study for students to choose. There is a new program starting this fall designed for students who work during the day. Vol State offers evening classes, but this new program sets up a pathway for evening students to get their degree in two years by taking classes two evenings a week.

A Pathway to Nursing and More this Fall

The fall semester is the start of a college career for many students. Volunteer State Community College has more than 100 areas of study for students to choose. One new path is the RN Nursing A.A.S. Degree program. Students can take Pre-Nursing as a major. It lays out exactly what classes students need to take in order to apply for the new Nursing program. 

Start a Mechatronics Career with Vol State in Cookeville

Manufacturing is increasingly powered by Mechatronics and employers are looking for trained professionals to repair, maintain, and design state-of-the-art robotics and computer-aided equipment in today’s fastest growing industries. Volunteer State Community College offers a Mechatronics degree program at the Cookeville Higher Education Center (CHEC). People can apply now for the fall semester.

Nursing Information Meeting in Livingston April 23

Volunteer State Community College at Livingston is offering a new RN Nursing A.A.S. Degree program. It starts in June and the special application is available now. An information session will be held on Tuesday, April 23 at 6 p.m on the campus at 113 Windle Community Road. Everyone is invited to attend. There are general education classes required to be taken before application. The students most likely ready to apply for the summer start are current pre-nursing students.
