High school seniors should apply for their TN Promise tuition-free education opportunity now, even if they don’t have their university or college plans set yet. Applying for TN Promise now gives you the option to attend Vol State tuition-free next fall. However, if you don’t apply by November 2 at midnight, you won’t be able to use TN Promise at all. Adult students often have to scrimp and save to afford college tuition. Now, with the tuition-free TN Reconnect program, a college education is much more obtainable.
“I was paying for classes with my tip money from work,” said Caitlin Springer of Goodlettsville. “Once Reconnect came through, I was ready and able to take more classes. It’s been great.”
Hundreds of adult students are attending college tuition-free this year with TN Reconnect. Adults who don’t already have a college degree can join them for the upcoming semesters at Volunteer State Community College. People are encouraged to apply now.

Tuition-free community college, with TN Reconnect, is inspiring thousands of adults across the state to attend college this fall. Volunteer State Community College has nearly 1000 new eligible applicants thus far. But it isn’t just individuals signing-up. Couples, and even whole families, are taking the opportunity to earn a college degree. Tennessee Reconnect is a state program, beginning in the fall semester of 2018, which allows eligible adult students to earn a college degree tuition-free. The primary requirement is that you not already have a college degree. Vol State is one of the participating community colleges offering TN Reconnect. Interested adults can complete the whole process now to get ready for fall classes.
More than seven hundred people have already applied to Volunteer State Community College to take advantage of the new Tennessee Reconnect program. It provides community college education tuition-free for adult students who don’t have a degree. The college is hosting a series of Get Ready to Reconnect events to help people who are still considering TN Reconnect. The first will be an all-day event, at all Vol State campuses, on Tuesday, April 10 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Gallatin campus will then have special hours every Tuesday from April 24 through May 15 from 4 p.m.
