Hundreds of people turned out today for a lunch celebrating the 50th anniversary of Volunteer State Community College and to welcome the new president of the college, Orinthia Montague. Vol State student musicians performed and there was a special live edition of the radio talk show The Vol State Chat on WVCP-FM 88.5. Students, faculty, and staff from the first year of the college shared their experiences. Vol State began offering classes in October of 1971.
