Since 2015, tnAchieves has served as the TN Promise partnering organization for students attending Volunteer State Community College. As a partner in the work, Vol State supports students by providing an exceptional post-secondary pathway and creating a supportive environment for students. Today’s milestone celebration recognized the more than 10,000 tnAchieves students enrolled at Vol State.
Today's event opened with welcoming remarks from Dr. Orinthia Montague, President, Volunteer State Community College, and Linda Martin, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Student Success, University of Tennessee. This was followed by a panel discussion on TN Promise's success over the past 8 years.
Some highlights of this historic milestone:
- tnAchieves has partnered with Vol State since the inception of TN Promise in 2015. The rising Class of 2024 will serve as our 10th cohort of TN Promise students.
- In that time, tnAchieves has enrolled 10,289 students at Vol State.
- The tnAchieves coaching model COMPLETE serves nearly 600 Vol State students and has supported 336 of those students with a completion grant.
- In total, $211,711 in completion grant funding has been provided to Vol State students.
- Vol State students that receive COMPLETE coaching and grants are 110% more likely to retain than their peers that are economically-disadvantaged.
- Since 2015, nearly 800 Vol State staff/faculty have served as tnAchieves mentors, supporting more than 5,500 TN Promise students.
- Vol State is unique in that we host two Summer Bridge Programs on their campuses (one in Gallatin and one in Cookeville). We have served 718 Vol State students through the Summer Bridge Program, with an 82% success rate.
