Med Lab Student Receives Statewide Scholarship

Vol State student Beth Wheeler

Volunteer State Community College Medical Laboratory Technology student Beth Wheeler of Nashville has been awarded a $500 scholarship by the Tennessee chapter of the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science, a statewide honor. The scholarship is a competitive process. Students need to demonstrate high academic achievement, leadership potential, and service to the profession. Medical Laboratory Technicians perform analytical tests on human body fluids and tissues, providing data essential for diagnosis, treatment, and management of disease or for the maintenance of wellness.

“We are incredibly proud of Beth and all her accomplishments here at Vol State,” said Kimberly Helton, the acting program director. “We know that she has a bright future ahead of her as a laboratory professional once she graduates this May.”
