Get Ready for Vol State Spring Classes

Online courses provide flexibility for working students.

The holidays can get busy and so people considering taking college classes this spring are encouraged to apply now. Spring classes at Volunteer State Community College start on January 21. There are hundreds of courses to choose from in six major divisions: Business and Technology; Health Sciences; Math and Science; Humanities, Nursing; and Social Science and Education. Classes are held in the day and evening in traditional classroom formats. The college also offers hundreds of online classes each semester. One new online class is BUSN-2340-501 - Human Resource Management. Topics include employment law, compensation, training, recruitment, HR practices around the globe, and trends shaping HR. In other areas, education degrees are offered fully online and the college is now providing some fully online courses for early childhood education. New this spring will be the ECED 2370 Developmental Assessment course. Vol State has several different degree programs in different academic areas that can be accomplished entirely online. Online education is best for students who are self-starters and well-organized. The computer system used, called eLearn, is designed to be easily navigated. To get students ready, Vol State has introductory tutorials that can be accomplished before the semester begins. For details visit www.volstate.edu/online.

Spring semester is another opportunity for adult students to attend classes tuition-free with TN Reconnect. It is available for most Tennessee residents who don’t already have a college degree. They can have college credits and those credits could apply to a Vol State degree. People who want to attend for the spring semester should apply now. For more information about TN Reconnect, including eligibility and links to apply to the college, visit www.volstate.edu/reconnect

Course registration is open now for all students. New and readmit students will need to apply first at www.volstate.edu/apply. Call 615-230-3688 for more information.

You are welcome to visit our campuses to get started, but we will be closed from December 23-January 1. That doesn't have to slow you down. The application process can be completed online at www.volstate.edu/apply.
