Over the past several years, the Southeastern Young Adult Book Festival has established itself as a premier event that left a lasting impression on those involved by fostering a personal one-on-one experience between young adults and authors.
Bringing readers and writers together has been a hallmark for the festival.
Among the stellar list of authors are New York Times bestselling authors Neal Shusterman, Kendare Blake, Alan Gratz, and Nashville’s own Ruta Sepetys. Other local authors include Sharon Cameron, Greg Howard, Jamie Sumner, Kristin O’Donnell Tubb, Andrea Williams, and Jeff Zentner.
This year’s SE-YA Book Fest will take place virtually on March 10-12, 2022 and is sponsored by Volunteer State Community College.
The first two days of the festival – Thursday, March 10 and Friday, March 11 – are reserved for schools and homeschools. Past festivals have hosted 77 schools from 24 different school districts.
Saturday, March 12 is free and open to the public worldwide.
Organized by a group of Rutherford County school librarians and Vol State English faculty members, SE-YA is designed to encourage and develop literacy in young adults by connecting them with authors in a fun setting, thereby advancing education in the community.
Among this year’s offerings are opportunities to interact with more than 60 bestselling authors during panel discussions and writing workshops to help readers hone their skills as young writers.
All festival events take place virtually through Crowdcast. Registration is free but required.
