Two Nights of Dodging Banana Peels and Turtle Shells

Tue, Aug 27, 2024

Neither slippery banana peels nor hazardous turtle shells could derail the fun times we had at our Mario Kart eSports tournaments held on August 20th at Gallatin and August 22nd at our Cookeville Campus. Each event was well attended by over 100 community members. The tournaments included both team events and individual races and saw competitors of all ages and experience levels participating at a high level.

We extend our thanks to Meta for sponsoring and participating in the tournaments. Our partners at Meta Gallatin Data Center are devoted to our communities and they provided referee duties at the Gallatin location. We would also like to express our gratitude to the fantastic team at Twin Lakes for sponsoring the Upper Cumberland event, performing referee duties, and contributing to the success of the evening.

Vol State currently has an eSports club that all students are invited to join. The club will sponsor local and community competitions that members of our community can participate in online. Our future plans for the growing eSports movement include establishing a Vol State eSports athletic team. Students are invited to learn more at https://forms.office.com/r/JuZdK8Sa1e.

Congratulations also goes out to all the winners in our family, teams, and individual matches. We hope to see you next time!
