Tim Reece Celebrates His 500th Broadcast

Recently, Tim Reece, Vol State’s very own athletic media coordinator, celebrated his 500th broadcast. As a retired FBI agent, Reece ran his own investigation business until it was shut down by COVID. A silver lining appeared, however, when the Full Count Rhythm program, under Full Count Ministries, was able to host Reece. Here at Vol State, he began broadcasting baseball, and the rest is history. Soon, the voice of Tim Reece would become a familiar one across all Vol State sports broadcasts.

Vol State’s Director of Athletics, Bobby Hudson, expresses his gratitude for Reece, saying, “It really has been a blessing to me, having him here. He made our vision come to life. From taking the time to repaint the press box to getting to know the players, Tim really does it all.”

Reece talks passionately about spending time with the players, both on and off the field. Bible study with the teams and dinners with Coach McGuire are frequent and held close to his heart. The broadcaster dedicates his efforts to Pioneers and their families, encouraging players to write down the names of family members they want him to give a shout-out to during games. “I like to have everyone involved,” Reece said. “Maybe grandma can’t make it to the game, but she can still be a part of it.” His involvement with the athletics department has been powerful, and Vol State is honored to celebrate Tim Reece’s 500th broadcast.
