The search for the next president of Vol State has advanced to three finalists. They are visiting the Gallatin campus this week for a series of interviews and forums.
Dr. Irene Rios, chief executive officer of Suffolk County Community College’s Ammerman Campus in Suffolk County, New York visited Thursday. She talked about looking for ways to provide laptops for all students, using a grant to get college advisors into elementary and junior high schools, and organizing Sector Summits to develop new degree programs in emerging job fields. Students and the community can participate in the afternoon forum, either in person at Caudill Hall or via Zoom. The time will be the same for each candidate and held from 3pm to 4pm each day. Dr. Jothany Blackwood, vice president for academic success at San Antonio College in San Antonio, Texas visited Tuesday. Dr. Orinthia T. Montague, president of Tompkins Cortland Community College in Dryden, New York visited Wednesday.
