Vol State Brings Virtual Teaching Skills to European OSHA Clients

Virtual learning has expanded in many ways during the Covid-19 pandemic. Now, staff members at Volunteer State Community College are taking virtual teaching techniques and applying them to a new audience, one that is well outside the usual focus of Middle Tennessee. Vol State is home to an OTIEC (OSHA Training Institute Education Center). OSHA health and safety training organized by Vol State reaches companies and employees across the southeast United States. A program is taking that education global as part of a U.S. Army Europe training initiative.

Bartender Training Program at Vol State

The holidays are coming up and that means people will be able to earn extra money bartending. Volunteer State Community College is partnering with Elite Bartending School in Nashville for a forty-hour, two-week training program. It’s designed for prospective bartenders to hone their skills in high volume bartender training, mixology, and customer service. The program includes job placement opportunities for graduates. Students will receive information needed for the Tennessee server permit. Participants must be at least 18 years of age.

Free Job Search Training Videos

Job searches have become more important than ever with current economic conditions. Volunteer State Community College is announcing three job search training modules as a free community service. The training modules represent a sequential, step-by-step, approach to conducting a successful job search in today’s market. They include: Module1: Job Search Strategy; Module 2: Communication Vehicles; and Module 3: Interviewing Skills and Job Offers. All three videos are available on YouTube. Vol State Launches RN Nursing Degree Program

Volunteer State Community College has announced a new nursing degree program that will prepare students to apply to sit for licensure as a Registered Nurse. Approval for the program was given recently by Tennessee Board of Nursing. This new program will award an Associate of Applied Science degree in Nursing. It will be held on the Gallatin and Livingston campuses.

Vol State Logistics Adds High Tech and Real World Simulations

Logistics is the process that allows things to move, whether it be sofas to Seattle or iPads to Indonesia. Parts and finished products travel around the globe in a system set by professionals in logistics and supply chain management. Volunteer State Community College is constantly pushing its logistics and supply chain management training forward to match the speed of commerce. And that speed may be increasing with the announcement of an Amazon operations center in Nashville, a facility that is expected to employ up to 5,000 people.
