Public Invited to CHEC Earth Day Event in Cookeville

The Second Annual CHEC Earth Day Celebration will feature educational exhibits, a Green Market, artists, live music, local food vendors, and learning activities for all ages. Students, faculty, and staff at the Cookeville Higher Education Campus (CHEC) are organizing the free public event, which will be held on Saturday, April 27 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the campus in Cookeville. Earth Day has become an international event celebrated across the globe during the last week of April.

Vol State Science and Math Expo for kids April 4

The Parris Powers Science and Math Expo at Volunteer State Community College is a hands-on learning experience for kids K-8 and their parents and grandparents. The Expo is coming up on April 4. It’s a fun day of science learning. There will be dozens of demonstrations and activities. Those exhibits are put together by Vol State students, who gain a new perspective on science and math education.

KEY Lifelong Learning Lecture Series for Fall

Plant-Based Nutrition; the Vietnam War; Saudi Arabia; and Life on Earth are a few of the topics in the KEY Lifelong Learning Program at Volunteer State Community College. There are several lectures scheduled on Fridays this fall. The fee to enroll in one or all of the lectures in the series is $49. The lectures start September 14 and continue through October. Everyone is welcome to register and attend.

The Parris Powers Science and Math Expo at Volunteer State Community College is coming up on April 5. It’s a fun day of science learning for kids K-8 and their parents and grandparents. There will be dozens of hands-on demonstrations and activities. Those exhibits are put together by Vol State students, who gain a new perspective on science and math education. Topics will include: water properties (cohesion, adhesion, and surface tension), dry ice demonstrations, and education on biodegradable and recyclable materials.
