Foundation Dinner Features Comedian Henry Cho November 4

Comedian Henry Cho will be the entertainment highlight for the Complete the Dream dinner coming up on November 4. The Volunteer State Community College Foundation is holding the event to raise money for student scholarships and other endeavors. Cho grew up in Knoxville and attended U-T before heading to Hollywood for a stand-up comedy career and appearances on many TV shows and movies. He is known for his “clean” comedy that often describes his experiences as an Asian American growing up in the South.

Dearly Departed Comedy Theater

The struggles of the fictional Turpin family offer insight and laughs in the comedy “Dearly Departed” presented by the Volunteer State Community College theater program as part of the Spring 2019 Visual and Performing Arts Series. The popular play by authors David Bottrell and Jessie Jones is set in a small Southern town. The beleaguered Turpin family proves that living and dying in the South are seldom tidy and always hilarious.

California Suite Comedy Theater Production

A suite in the Beverly Hills Hotel is the setting for the classic Neil Simon comedy California Suite. The play will be presented by the Volunteer State Community College theater program as part of the Spring 2018 Visual and Performing Arts Series. The production uses the same suite as the location for each of four parts, with different characters in each act. Couples visiting Los Angeles sort through marriage problems, mid-life complications, and in one case, a dilemma involving an unconscious prostitute.
