President’s Innovation Grant

Faculty and Staff may apply for a grant to support programs and activities that contribute to the enhancement of Volunteer State Community College’s strategic plan. Eligible Faculty and Staff members may apply for up to $2,500 per submittal.

Eligibility Guidelines

Applications may be submitted by Volunteer State faculty and staff. Applicants must meet the following conditions to have their projects considered for funding:

  • Hold full-time status
  • Have at least one year of full-time service at Volunteer State
  • Submit a completed proposal
  • If you have not been awarded the grant in the last 3 years

Preferred Projects

Measurable outcomes and likelihood of success are important factors to consider when preparing an application.

Preference will be given to projects that benefit the enhancement of the College’s strategic plan, specifically the submittals should be based on innovative ideas and solutions that align with:

  • Enrollment Growth
  • Community Partnerships
  • Increase Completion
  • Institutional Excellence
  • Dual Enrollment

Funding Parameters

The President’s Innovation Grant is capped at $2,500 per funding cycle; please do not request more than the maximum award amount in your application. Please note that the following are NOT eligible for funding through the Faculty & Staff Grant program:

  • Professional development, including conferences
  • Coursework taken for academic advancement
  • Travel
  • Political/lobbying activities
  • Religious activities

Applications* accepted during Fall and Spring semesters and grants must be utilized by June 30th.

By accepting the grant, you agree to submit an impact statement within 45 days of the completion of the project.

Application & Award Procedures

  1. The request period will open at the beginning of each fall and spring semester.
  2. All submittals must be processed via the online form, with no exceptions.
  3. Award recipients are eligible to receive no more than two $2,500 awards within a three-year period.
  4. You will be notified individually if your proposal is selected.

Faculty & Staff Reporting Responsibility

Priority will be based on innovative idea/solutions that align with the College’s strategic priorities. Measurable outcomes and likelihood of success are important factors to consider when preparing an application. A summary impact statement must be submitted to the Chief of Staff or other appointees within 45 days of the completion of the project. The summary must address the following areas:

  • Major accomplishments or outcomes achieved
  • Number of individuals impacted
  • Personal/professional achievements obtained from the project
  • Limitations and/or recommendations for future projects

  • Fall deadline: October 31
