Vol State - Peru

Volunteer State students are invited to immerse themselves in the captivating world of biology and environmental science amidst the stunning landscapes of Peru.

Peru's unparalleled biodiversity is a result of its diverse geography. This program will highlight regions of the Pacific Ocean and the Andes mountains. During your journey, you'll witness some of the world's most diverse bird populations, encounter unique mammals, and explore a wide array of flora, from the hardy quinoa plant to majestic cedar trees. This experience will provide an opportunity to develop critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills that are essential for a career in the field of biology.

Departing to Peru: February 28, 2024
Arriving back to Nashville: March 9, 2024

Locations tentatively planned: Lima, Cusco, Machu Picchu, Ballestas Islands, Huacachina Oasis excursion

Costs

Cost for the program: $3850
Scholarship amount (if received): $2850/Student pays: $1100 ($100 TnCIS application fee + $1000 for the program)

Cost includes:

  • Round trip airfare
  • Two meals (breakfast + lunch)
  • All transportation
  • All lodging
  • All tickets (museum or any site seeing)

Application

  • Applications are accepted October 1, 2023 to November 1, 2023
  • Application fee of $100 is due by 12:00 p.m. on October 31, 2023
  • The remaining balance is due by 12:00 p.m. on November 21, 2023
