Over the last few weeks, you may have heard stories in the news or heard your friends talking about the 2024-2025 FAFSA, the application for Fall 2024 financial aid. As you prepare to continue with or begin college this upcoming fall semester, filling out the FAFSA is a crucial part of preparing for college that unlocks Federal and state financial aid such as the Tennessee Promise, the Pell Grant, and the lottery scholarship.
The FAFSA has been in the news lately as the Federal Dept. of Education has experienced delays in sending us your information, but as you hear these stories, we wanted you to know that Vol State is doing everything we can to prepare to process your financial aid.
The information listed below highlights the next steps for you and Vol State as we work together to prepare for the Fall 2024 semester.
- If you have not filed a 2024-2025 FAFSA, please go to studentaid.gov and complete it as soon as possible. The state of TN deadline is May 15, 2024.
- If you have already filed a 2024-2025 FAFSA, Vol State expects to receive all completed FAFSAs from the Department of Education in the next 2 weeks.
- For those with completed and received FAFSAs, Vol State’s Financial Aid Office will begin notifying you in May 2024 (to your Vol State email address) with the next steps and additional requirements as needed. Please be sure to read those emails and submit all requested documentation.
- Once all requirements are satisfied, Vol State’s Financial Aid Office will notify you of your federal financial aid award via email this Summer.
- Once you have registered for Fall 2024 classes, you will receive a billing statement in July 2024 with your charges and financial aid where applicable. Given the timing, TN Reconnect and TN Promise may not have been applied to your bill yet pending the end of Summer 2024 courses.
