Physical Therapist Assistant Faculty Provide Therapy to Golfers at Clay Walker Charity Classic

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) faculty at VSCC were invited to the 16th annual Clay Walker Charity Classic at Pebble Beach, CA from June 26-30, 2024. Regina Brown PTA, Dan Ashley PT, and Doug Perry PT provided manual therapy skill demonstrations and educational information to the golfers who participated in the fundraiser. The faculty were invited by Ken Smith PTA who is the Director of Development for the Clay Walker Foundation. Mr. Smith is a 2021 graduate of the VSCC PTA program.

The Clay Walker Foundation is a non-for-profit charitable organization that provides support for those who have been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). The Clay Walker Foundation’s goal is to teach, help, and encourage people to live a fulfilled life while dealing with the symptoms of the condition. The foundation is one of the key leaders nationally in education and direct patient support and continues to expand its reach with further volunteers who assist the foundation. Access to physical therapy services is key to assisting MS patients to perform at their best ability to lead a meaningful life.

Volunteer State Community College’s Physical Therapist Assistant Program and the Clay Walker Foundation are pioneering a partnership that supports those living with Multiple Sclerosis. Faculty in the PTA program will provide students with an educational opportunity as faculty deliver interventions to those diagnosed with M.S. Clients are identified through C.W.F. and by community professionals.
