Student Conduct & Discipline

students walking on campusThe Office of the Vice President for Student Services serves as the judiciary core of Volunteer State Community College in matters involving student misconduct of a disciplinary nature or misconduct on the part of a student organization.  In this role, the Office of the Vice President for Student Services investigates allegations concerning student misconduct and subsequently proposes and enforces the appropriate disciplinary sanctions, when necessary.  The Vice President for Student Services or his/her designee works as a mediator and/or advocate for students in situations concerning disruptive classroom behavior and ensures that proper due process is granted to each student. 

In disciplinary matters the aim of this office is to:

  • Foster a safe and secure campus environment
  • Help faculty and students in matters of classroom or academic misconduct with the goal of maintaining an educational environment conducive to teaching and learning
  • Assist students in learning the importance of maintaining the educational environment which leads to growth and maturity

The VSCC Student Disciplinary Policy (III:00:05) is approved by the Tennessee Board of Regents and enforced by campus officials at Volunteer State Community College.  The policy defines disciplinary offenses and sanctions, outlines appeal procedures and also includes the traffic and parking regulations. The student disciplinary policy applies to all locations operated by Volunteer State Community College.

Contact the Vol State Behavioral Intervention Team if you're concerned about the well-being or safety of a Vol State student, employee, or any other person affecting the Vol State community. Possible reasons include: concerning, threatening or disruptive behaviors.
