Fall classes for fun, enrichment and career enhancement

You don’t have to be in college to take advantage of interesting and informative classes from Volunteer State Community College. Vol State Continuing Education has non-credit courses in subjects such as watercolor painting and identity theft awareness. Business and Industry classes help professionals, and business owners, tune up sales and management techniques. New classes are coming up throughout the fall.

The tight economy has many people taking a closer look at their job skills. Vol State Continuing Education can help with computer classes in Word and Excel 2007, PowerPoint, Access, QuickBooks, and even basic courses to introduce people to computers. Perhaps you just want to catch up with what is happening on the internet? Blogging for Beginners, Blogging for Business, and How to use MySpace and Facebook could be for you. The economy also has people evaluating pocketbook issues. Financial Freedom for Females and Introduction to Investing are two classes that can help.

Or maybe you just want to take a break from it all? Fun classes this fall include Oil Painting, Magic, Pilates, Yoga, Small Engine Repair, Handgun Safety, Wooden Duck Carving, Latin Dance and Interior Faux Finishes. There are dozens of options offered this fall and the website has the complete list.

Business and Industry has very specific offerings, such as CPIM Scheduling and Planning, and Certified Supply Chain Professional. Broader classes that can help sales professionals, or anyone in the workplace, include: Strengths Orientation and Team Building Workshop; Finding the Real Champion in You; and a course called Leading Change and Smiling Later. Vol State Business and Industry also has the latest Six Sigma courses including White Belt starting on September 25.

Fiber Optic training can be a path to a new career. Vol State has three certification prep courses coming up this fall.

To get started on any of these possibilities and to see the complete fall schedule visit the Vol State Continuing Education website at www.volstate.edu/ContinuingEd or call 615-230-3358.
