Sharpen Work and Fun Skills with Continuing EducationThe workplace is changing quickly and that means people need to acquire new skills to keep up. Volunteer State Community College Continuing Education has many evening and online classes that can help. Continuing Education courses are not for college credit. They’re designed to be quick, inexpensive and scheduled with the working person in mind.
Spring classes include Speed Reading, Conversational Spanish, PC Troubleshooting, Introduction to Windows, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Business courses include several levels of Six Sigma, Quality Inspector and Quality Technician certification, and many different Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) courses. Vol State is recognized as a Training Institute Education Center for OSHA. For those who need to update or renew health courses for their job, the Health Sciences Center of Emphasis offers courses in many different fields, including the popular life support, cardiac life support and pediatric life support classes, all in several levels.
For those who need a break from work, Vol State has plenty of options for fun learning. Courses coming up this spring include Ballroom Dance, Genealogy Basics, photography and writing. If fitness is on the resolution list, people can take classes in Sport Yoga, Step Aerobics, Stationary Cycling and Pilates. Those who love fitness may want to consider the Personal Trainer Certification course.
