Hundreds of graduates, loved ones, friends and well-wishers filled the Pickel Field House at Volunteer State Community College on Saturday for the thirty-ninth annual commencement ceremony at the college. More than 1000 students will graduate from the school this year. Vol State alumnus and Alumni Council Chair, Ed Mayberry, addressed the graduates. Jamie Blurton of Hendersonville was named the Outstanding Graduate for 2011.
Dr. Warren Nichols, President, told the graduates that they benefit from the knowledge and experiences of the instructors at Vol State. "Thanks to the faculty, whether you plan to go directly into the workforce, or go on to transfer to a university, you are well prepared."
