Martica Griffin is a Nashville based painter who creates both abstract and figurative works. Reviewers say that by using her strong sense of graphics, texture, and color, Griffin develops a sense of depth in each painting that makes every viewing of her work fresh and exciting. Griffin says that working in acrylic on un-stretched canvas allows her easy interchange between painting and drawing. She says her intention is to leave the viewer with a sense of joy, a smile or a feeling of something or somewhere they might have been or wish to go.

A native of Valdosta, Georgia, Griffin graduated from East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting. Her work resides in various public and private collections. Her work will appear at the Volunteer State Community College Thigpen Library Gallery from February 12 to March 19. It is located at 1480 Nashville Pike in Gallatin.
