The Volunteer State Community College chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society has officially been recognized as a Five Star Chapter. The Five Star Chapter Development Plan serves as a blueprint for developing a strong chapter and improving student engagement. The Five Star designation is the pinnacle of milestones in that development process.

"I'm very proud of what our students did last year," said faculty advisor George Pimentel. "They worked very hard on the C-4 Commit to Completion student awareness campaign and a faculty interview project. They had a good leadership group last year."

Phi Theta Kappa, the International Honor Society of the Two-Year College, has recognized academic excellence in the two-year college since 1918. The Society is comprised of more than 1,200 chapters at community, technical and junior colleges. For more information about student organizations at Vol State visit volstate.edu/StudentLife.
