Volunteer State Community College has several new programs coming up for the fall semester. One offers a guided start to college for incoming freshmen. Another provides hands-on education in Entertainment Media Production. Registration is open now for all fall classes at Vol State.

The Freshman Experience Tracks are designed for new students at the college. The tracks have an easier registration process, an established schedule of classes, and extra academic support to help students succeed. Several classes in the tracks will be held with the same group of students. Group learning means that students can work together and help each other along the way. Tracks are simply the days and times the classes will be held. Interested students should contact the coordinator, Kristi Huffine, at 615-230-3619 or e-mail

Entertainment Media Production combines several areas with one primary purpose: to get students trained and plugged into the entertainment industry in Tennessee. They include concentrations in audio and music production, music business, multimedia and web design, and video production. The program offers certificates, which are designed to get students into the workplace. An advisory board of industry professionals helped to put the program together. Partnerships with entertainment businesses in the area will be an important part of the program for students.

The popular Vol State Logistics program now has an entirely online schedule available for students to get a 16-credit technical certificate in this hot job field. Vol State has hundreds of other courses coming up in the fall semester, including day, evening, Saturday and online offerings.

Fall classes start on August 25. Vol State fall class registration can be accomplished online or in-person. The fall schedule and catalog are available on the college website at . New students will need to fill out an application first. That can be done online or in-person by visiting the Office of Admissions in the Ramer Building room 173. Students with questions can also call 615-230-3688. Vol State is located at 1480 Nashville Pike in Gallatin.
