Finding the energy to raise a family, have a career and stay happy and motivated can be a challenge for anyone. Carol Grace Anderson wants to help women get fired up, without burning out. That's the message she will bring to the Volunteer State College Foundation "Educate a Woman" luncheon in April.

Anderson lived in a tiny 18-foot trailer as a child, surrounded by circus performers. After flunking out of three colleges, she was determined enough to earn a Bachelor's Degree, followed by a Master's Degree in counseling from New York University.

She taught Psychology and Life Skills in a New York prison for five years, and then moved to Nashville after being offered a music opportunity. When she got to Music City, she quickly started performing with a who's who of entertainers, including Willie Nelson, Roy Clark, Jimmy Buffett, Johnny Cash, and Mickey Dolenz of the Monkees. As an award-winning songwriter, Anderson has had over 40 of her songs recorded.

Fifteen years ago, she became a sought-after speaker and best-selling author. Anderson is a successful motivational expert and host of her own online show: "Get Fired UP!" She's been published in four languages and also contributed to the mega-bestseller "Chicken Soup For The Soul" series.

The "Educate a Woman" luncheon will be held on Friday, April 29 at 11 a.m. at the Bluegrass Country Club in Hendersonville. While there is no charge for the event, attendees are asked to make a donation during the lunch. All proceeds go to fund student scholarships for women at Vol State. Ms. Sue's Med Spa is the Summa Cum Laude sponsor. To RSVP or to find out more about sponsorship opportunities call 615-230-3526 or e-mail
