Fiber Optics Training Courses at Vol State

Volunteer State Community College is offering fiber optics certification courses in April for a variety of levels. Certified Fiber Optics Technician (CFOT) is the basic three-day course coming up April 11 - 13. The introductory fiber optics course is designed for anyone interested in learning basic fiber optic networking. This program combines theory and 75 percent hands-on activities to prepare the student to take the CFOT (Certified Fiber Optics Technician) test that is sanctioned by the FOA (Fiber Optics Association) and given and graded the final class day. This program is recognized for BICSI CECs (Continuing Education Credits): RCDD 21, Installer Level/2 Technician 12 CECs. The fee for the course is $700.

Certified Fiber Optics Specialist/Testing & Maintenance (CFOS/T) is a two-day specialist testing course on April 14 - 15. Splicing Specialist Training includes a complete presentation explaining the importance of high performance splicing and further details the points necessary to achieve the splices. The fee for the course is $675.

Certified Fiber Optics Splicing Specialist (CFOS/S) is a two-day Specialist in Splicing course on April 16 - 17. The fee for the course is $675. To register for any of the courses visit the Continuing Education website at or call 615-230-3358.
