Kelly Miller joins Volunteer State Community College as Springfield Site Director. She will lead the Vol State efforts at the new Highland Crest higher education facility in Springfield. That building is under construction and due to be completed this summer. Vol State will be offering general education, program specific and continuing education courses at Highland Crest.

"I'm excited about this opportunity," said Miller. "This facility has the potential to make a big impact in the community, and provide higher education to an area that has not had a college presence in the past."

Miller says there are many challenges in opening a brand new higher education facility, and adds that her experience will help. "That's a lot of what I've done in my career. I've been involved in a lot of new program development and building new relationships between the college that I worked for and the community."

Miller has teaching and administrative experience at several higher education institutions. Most recently, she was Academic Chair for Kaplan University, Online Division. She was responsible for 12 courses in the School of Health Sciences. Miller supervised health programs for Remington College in Nashville and was Surgical Technology Program Director at Keiser College in Port St. Lucie, Florida. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Management from Kaplan University and a Master in Public Health degree from Florida International University.

Miller has been meeting with civic and business leaders in the Robertson County area. "My top priority is to get myself integrated into the community and get the word out to people about what we will be offering. I also want to listen to people to hear what we need to be offering for classes in the future."
