Quick Reference

1. Check Financial Aid Requirements
  • Go to: My Vol State
  • Log in using your USER NAME and PASSWORD.
  • Click the PRIDE ONLINE tab.
  • Under the FINANCIAL AID STATUS CATEGORY, Click ELIGIBILITY.
  • Select AID YEAR 2014-2015.
  • Complete all forms under the STUDENT REQUIREMENTS tab.
2. Check Your Award/Balance/Refund
  • Go to: My Vol State
  • Click the PRIDE ONLINE tab.
  • Under FINANCIAL AID, Click AWARD FOR AID YEAR.
  • Select AID YEAR 2014-2015.
  • Select AWARD OVERVIEW tab.
  • To See Balance/RefundGo to: https://portal.volstate.edu/cp/home/displayloginClick the PRIDE ONLINE tab. Under STUDENT MENU, Click ACCOUNT SUMMARY. Select ACCOUNT DETAIL FOR TERM.
3. Check Attendance Reporting
  • Go to: My Vol State
  • Click PRIDE ONLINE.
  • Under STUDENT MENU, Click ATTENDANCE REPORTING.
  • Select TERM (Fall Term 2014).
  • Click SUBMIT.
4. Print Direct Stafford Loan Request Form
  • Click HERE and open the "Forms" drop down menu then select #12 Direct Loan Request Form.
  • Complete the form and submit to the office.
5. Complete the Exit Counseling Interview
  • Go to:StudentLoans.gov
  • Click SIGN IN.
  • Complete the MY PREFERENCES section.
  • Click SAVE AND CONTINUE.
  • Click COMPLETE COUNSELING.
  • Click EXIT COUNSELING.
  • Complete requirements. Once you receive the confirmation page, you are finished.
6. ElectronicLoan Entrance Counseling and Electronic Master Promissory Note
  • Go to:StudentLoans.gov
  • Follow the instructions. You’ll receive a confirmation for the Entrance and for the Promissory Note.

10. IRS Data Retrieval
  • Go to: www.fafsa.ed.gov
  • Log into the FAFSA using your name, Social Security Number and date of Birth.
  • Select "Make FAFSA Corrections"
  • Enter your PIN and FAFSA Password
  • Click on the "Financial Information" tab. If you are a dependent student, the "Parent Financial Information" screen will display. Select "already completed" from the drop down box. If you are an independent student, the "Student Financial Information" screen will display and you will select "already completed"
  • Correct tax filing status on the FAFSA form "will file" return to "already completed" return. Answer the questions that determine if the IRS Data Retrieval Tool can be used. If eligible to use the IRS Data Retrieval , enter your PIN and link to IRS. You will be notified that you are leaving FAFSA on the web.
  • Click "OK" to continue.
  • Enter requested information exactly as it appears on the filed tax return. Click "Submit". If the IRS is able to validate your Identification, the Federal Income Tax Information will display. 
  • Click "Transfer Now" and then return to the FAFSA using the link provided. If you are a dependent student and filed a tax return, select "already completed" from the "student Financial Information" tab and repeat the process to use the IRS Data Retrieval.
  • Once completed, continue to the "Sign & Submit" tab and submit your corrections.
  • Corrected FAFSA results will be sent to your school. By successfully using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool, you will only have to submit the appropriate Verification Worksheet.
  • OR: Get a Tax Transcript Online
  • Go to: Http://www.irs.gov/Individuals/Get-Transcript
  • Click -Get Transcript Online
  • Create An Account (Enter First Name, Last Name, Email address)
  • Click Send Email Confirmation Code
  • Check email and ENTER Confirmation Code (Confirmation Code will expire in 30 minutes)
  • Click Very Email Confirmation Code
  • Enter Personal Information
  • Check box to proceed as aguest. Do not check box to store information for future use.
  • Click Continue
  • Answer Personal Questions
  • Indicate reason for requesting transcript
  • Select appropriate year Return Transcript
  • Print Transcript
11. Debit Card Opt-In/Out
  • Log in to Volstate Portal
  • Click Pride Online Tab
  • Under Student Menu, Select Student Account
  • Select Debit Card Refunding (OPT-IN/OPT-OUT)
  • Select Term (ex. Spring Term 2014)
  • Submit
  • Choose to OPT-IN, or OPT-OUT
