The popular movie became a critically acclaimed musical, and now “The Spitfire Grill” is coming to the stage at Volunteer State Community College. It’s the story of a young woman who has just been released from prison. She starts her new life in a rural Wisconsin town where she finds small town suspicions, great challenges and heart-warming relationships.
John Simon with New York Magazine called the New York production: “Soulful and transcendent. It is not often that material moves me to tears, but this was one of those occasions. What even in normal times would be a joy is, in these troubled ones, sheer nourishment.”
The Vol State Theater Department will present “The Spitfire Grill” on February 25, 26 and 27 at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium at Caudill Hall. Admission is a suggested donation of $5. For more information call 615-230-3545.
