Animal Artwork on Exhibit

Amanda McCadams art workThe Volunteer State Community College Thigpen Library Gallery will display animal themed artwork from several artists in March and April. Those artists include: Shane Doling, Leslie Haines, Claire Hampton, Amanda McCadams, and Scott Thom. The group exhibit is called “Animal Imagery in Art.”

The exhibit is comprised of photographs, paintings, prints, graphic design, and sculpture. Artists have been using and exploring animal imagery since the Prehistoric period. Animals have been viewed as symbols of fertility, power, Gods, food, and pets to highlight just a few examples throughout history. This exhibit showcases contemporary examples of how artists continue to explore the animal in art.

The exhibit will be on display through April 12. It is free and open to the public from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and closed on Sunday. The Thigpen Library is located on the Vol State campus at 1480 Nashville Pike in Gallatin. For more information call 615-230-3201.
