Christmas at Vol State Concert and CD Release

Submitted on November 08, 2012 at 10:51 AM

Music performance at Volunteer State Community College covers a variety of styles, including rock, jazz, classical, blues and bluegrass. Those styles will be showcased with a holiday theme at the annual Christmas at Vol State concert. The show will feature holiday classics, original student songs, and dance routines performed by the Vol State Showstoppers, the Commercial Music Ensemble, Bluegrass Ablaze and songwriting class students. The concert also celebrates the release of the annual Christmas music CD spotlighting student performances.

"This will be the 15th year of our holiday music CD," said Visual and Performing Arts Chair, James Story. "Students are a part of the recording project from performance to mixing and production. It also allows our students to showcase their talents in solo and ensemble work."

The concert will be held in the Wemyss Auditorium at Caudill Hall on Friday, November 30 and Saturday, December 1 at 7:30 p.m. There is a suggested donation of $5 at the door. For $10 concert goers can get admission and a copy of the CD. Proceeds benefit music student scholarships. Vol State is located at 1480 Nashville Pike in Gallatin.
