Volunteer State Community College

Regents Online

Thank you for your interest in Volunteer State Community College’s Regents Online degree programs. As you know, these online classes provide students the opportunity to continue or complete their education at a time that is convenient to their individual schedule.

ROCC (RODP) has modified the student engagement report in response to new federal requirements. Beginning this semester students will only be counted as engaged if they actively participate in the course. No longer will logging in to the system constitute participation.

RODP will place a news item at the top of every course homepage in the D2L system. The survey asks 3 questions; have you read the syllabus, have you read the student conduct policy, and have you read the academic misconduct policy. This non-graded survey will allow students to engage even if the instructor has no early requirements to use the other tools.

Textbooks

Textbooks for Regents Online classes are not available at the Volunteer State Community College campus. You are responsible for purchasing your textbooks in a timely manner to ensure you are prepared and ready to participate in your class the first day. The books must be ordered through the Regents Online Virtual Bookstore. Several classes have an access code or other software that is bundled with the textbook. It is to your advantage to order the books from the Regents Online website. For specific questions about the books, please call (888) 251 - 2665.

Course Schedule

The most up to date information is available on the Course Listings page at the Regents Online website.

Logging in to Class

The Regents Online course portal is located at elearn.rodp.org. Your username is the first initial of your first name and full last name followed by the first four digits of your birth date. There are no spaces and no periods. If your last name is hyphenated it will be your entire last name including the hyphen. Your password will be your six digit birth date

For example, John Smith is a student whose birthday is February 22nd 1992. John’s username is jsmith0222 and his password is 022292.

Students cannot log in to their class until the published date that classes begin. Access to the course is available after 6:00 pm. Spring classes begin January 12, 2012.

Financial Aid

The report on your engagement (attendance) in Regents Online courses is an automatic data extraction. When you enter your course for the first time, a record is made automatically. That information is provided to Vol State’s Financial Aid Office after the 4th, 9th and 15th class meeting dates. The instructor does not report your attendance in Regents Online courses.

Midterm & Final Test Proctoring

Check the syllabus the first day you log in to see if the midterm and/or final exam must be proctored. If so:

  1. Go to the Testing Center website
  2. Click on “Scheduling System Log In” (link on the left side of the page)
  3. Click on “Regents Online scheduling”
  4. Create an account
  5. Make your appointments for mid-term and/or final exams

You will receive a confirmation email of your appointment and also an email reminder of your appointment two days prior. If your instructor requires notification of your scheduled appointment, forward your confirmation email to him or her.
