Job DescriptionNature of Work
This is responsible work involving the supervision of juveniles and/or adolescents residing in a residential treatment facility. Activities associated with the job include supervising the daily activities of residents, participating in the facilitation of therapeutic groups, providing positive and consistent role-modeling and completing daily records as required. Additional activities include assisting with crisis intervention when necessary, enforcing program rules and policies, assisting with food preparation and meals when necessary and planning and participating in group and recreational activities. Specific job duties vary depending upon the shift worked by the incumbent. Job responsibilities require a minimum of one year experience working in a residential facility, strong organizational, interpersonal and decision making skills, knowledge of therapeutic treatment programs and services and the ability to react quickly and appropriately to unpredictable circumstances. Job performance is evaluated by the Residential Facility Director through review of work related decisions, ability to interact successfully with clients and their families, compliance with program rules and regulations, accuracy and timeliness of required documentation and level of support provided for facility operations. Job related activities are subject to review by licensing counselors and state audits.
Illustrative Examples of Work
-Supervises the daily activities of juveniles and/or adolescents residing in the facility.
-Participates in the facilitation of therapeutic group activities including program adjustment, life skills, conflict resolution, etc.
-Ensures proper staffing ratios and student supervision are maintained at all times and notifies supervisory staff of issues and/or concerns when necessary.
-Maintains the safety and security of students, staff and faculty members at all times including appropriate protocols for visitors, identification of hazards, emotional and physical concerns and safe transportation of clients.
-Assists with ensuring effective cooperation with associated agencies and personnel.
-Maintains good stewardship of financial and program/company items.
-Supports and facilitates appropriate communication and relationships with students, family members, key stakeholders and support groups.
-Provides positive and consistent role-modeling for residents.
-Completes daily record keeping and related documentation as required.
-Assists with crisis intervention in accordance with facility policies and procedures.
-Consistently enforces all program rules and policies and holds residents accountable for their actions.
-Enforces the daily planning schedule in an effort to maintain daily routines and order.
-Assists with food preparation activities when necessary.
-Plans and coordinates constructive group activities which promote learning and socialization skills.
-Assists with planning and participating in residents’ recreation activities.
-Attends staff meetings and training workshops.
-Assists with ensuring the facility is clean and well maintained and reports all property damage, maintenance needs and health and safety concerns.
-Provides transportation for residents when required.
-Supervises news watch and facilitates question and answering sessions.
-Oversees and assists with the completion of assigned chores.
-Assists with the completion of bed checks from lights out until breakfast.
-Conducts random fire, tornado and other emergency evacuation / safety drills.
-Administers and documents medications for morning, dinner and bedtime.
-Ensures residents complete their laundry within given time constraints.
-Facilitates the completion of showers and documents phone calls.
-Facilitates nightly group sessions before bedtime.
-Assists with completing intakes and ensures that each client is oriented into the program.
-Conducts searches of the property to ensure the cleanliness and safety of the buildings and grounds as necessary.
-Provides copies of pertinent information to the Advocate School on date of admission and as necessary.
-Develops constructive uses of residents’ time when their privileges have been suspended.
-Assists with the documentation in pass-on, progress reports and points sheets with input from other staff.
-Assists in conducting random searches and searches residents during intake and after work and/or outings.
-Observes, addresses and documents any issues of non-compliance.
-Assists with washing, drying and folding towels, rags and washcloths and cleaning and defrosting refrigerators and freezers according to established schedules.
-Conducts a walk-through of the facility at the end of each shift to ensure the cleanliness and organization of each room.
-Updates the resident information book, makes copies of any needed information and completes the runaway report when necessary.
-Performs related duties as required.
Necessary Requirements of Work
Graduation from an accredited high school or GED program supplemented with additional training in working with troubled juveniles and/or adolescents; experience working in a residential treatment facility for youth; a minimum of one year experience working in a juvenile and/or adolescent treatment facility; ability to interact successfully with co-workers, clients and family members; good decision making, organizational and writing skills; or any equivalent combination of education or experience to provide the following knowledge, abilities and skills:
-Knowledge of Universal Precautions, First Aide and CPR.
-Knowledge of the physical, psychological and emotional needs of troubled adolescents.
-Knowledge of proper personal hygiene practices.
-Knowledge of the nutritional needs of clients including special dietary supplements and specialized diets.
-Knowledge of reporting requirements and techniques related to incident management, crisis intervention and use of restraints.
-Knowledge of clients’ rights and the development and application of developmental goals and objectives.
-Knowledge of commonly used medicines for adolescent clients including possible side effects and symptoms of improper usage.
-Knowledge of the procedures used to monitor and document the daily activities and progress of clients toward established goals.
-Ability to maintain professional communications in verbal, non-verbal, written and electronic forms.
-Ability to effectively support and facilitate relationships with students, family members, key stakeholders and support groups.
-Ability to effectively monitor the whereabouts, safety and activities of residents at all times.
-Ability to effectively plan and organize daily activities that promote socialization skills and learning activities.
-Ability to interact effectively with clients and family members and diffuse potentially problematic situations.
-Ability to maintain detailed notes, logs, and other reports and document the daily activities of clients.
-Ability to plan and coordinate special events and activities for clients.
-Ability to respond to emergency and/or unpredictable situations in a calm, patient and appropriate manner.
-Ability to perform the physically demanding aspects of the job.
Necessary Special Requirements
-Possession of a valid Tennessee Drivers License and the minimum amount of liability insurance required by state law.
-Incumbents must pass a physical exam and TB test prior to employment.
-Fingerprinting and clearance through TBI required.
-Successful completion of training and current certification in Universal Precautions, First Aide and CPR.
-Training in the proper use of restraints.

Omni Visions is seeking direct care staff and supervisors for the second shift (3:00-11:00 p.m. with some flexibility), overnight, and weekends. Full and part time opportunities.
