Job DescriptionThe Assistant Business Manager of the General Conference provides administrative support to the Business Manager and the Secretary of The General Conference; handles all correspondence, updates registration database, assists with meeting registration and assists with the billing of participants for The General Conference; supports the work of the Secretary of the General Conference and the Business Manager of the General Conference.
Essential Job Functions are: 1) Performs administrative and other duties as assigned by the Business Manager and Secretary of The General Conference. 2) Provides significant support to the work of the Secretary of the General Conference and the Business Manager of the General Conference in the credentialing of delegates and in support of the visa process for international delegates. 3) Coordinates calendaring and logistics relating to all Department meetings and travel. 4) Manages communications for the General Conference delegates for travel and hotel arrangements. Liaison with Connections Housing for central conference delegates housing. 5) Reconciles and encodes General Conference hotel master bills, corporate credit cards and other meeting vendor bills; troubleshoots incorrect billing; and prepares bills for external customers. 6) Performs administrative and other duties for the Commission on General Conference, the Commission Chair, Messaging Task Force and the Interagency Legislative Task Force.
Job RequirementsThe Assistant Business Manager of the General Conference must have membership in and 4-5 years of directly related work experience in The United Methodist Church. The right candidate will have an Associateís Degree or comparable training; be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel at the intermediate level; have knowledge of registration software and/or database programs; and have the ability to work independently, be a self-starter and multi-tasker.

Company Description The General Council on Finance and Administration (GCFA) was created by the General Conference to perform defined responsibilities of review and oversight on behalf of the General Conference in relation to the other general agencies receiving general Church funds. It is amenable and accountable to the General Conference and reports to it. All monies contributed by a local church to any of the general funds of the Church and such other funds as may have been authorized by the General Conference are held in trust by the council and distributed only in support of the ministries of the respective funds. The council is accountable to The United Methodist Church through the General Conference in all matters relating to the receiving, disbursing, and reporting of such funds, and agencies receiving such funds are fiscally accountable to the council.
The purpose of the General Council on Finance and Administration (GCFA) is to be accountable for the financial plan of the Church, through a servant ministry promoting fiscal integrity, strategic alliance building, and steadfastness to historic United Methodist traditions and disciplines, thus, enabling the fulfillment of the mission and ministry of The United Methodist Church.
