Switchboard Operator/Receptionist

Job DescriptionThe City of Gallatin Public Utilities Department is currently taking applications for the position of Switchboard Operator/Receptionist. Duties include: intermediate clerical and technical work in a public contact setting providing assistance to citizens and municipal personnel; preparing and maintaining files and records as needed. This is a 40 hrs per week, day shift position.

Job RequirementsRequirements: General knowledge of the operation of a multi-line telephone; general knowledge of standard office methods and procedures, business English, spelling and commercial arithmetic and office management; general knowledge of the use of a personal computer; ability to speak clearly, understand and follow written and oral directions; ability to type accurately; ability to assist the public in a pleasing and efficient manner. Position requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school. Possession of an appropriate driverís license valid in the State of Tennessee. The starting rate is $13.41 + excellent benefits.
