Job Description:
There are two to three positions available for Kinesiology or Education Majors as coaching interns with the Goodpasture Christian School Football Program. These interns would need to have a flexible schedule due to the nature of the GCS’s block scheduling. The internship will last from August 1st through October 1st. Practices will either be from 1:20 - 3:30 or 3:00 - 4:30 depending on what block day the school is on that day. Interns will need to be available from 4:30 to 8:00 on game days. The internship will be provided with invaluable experience in many facets of coaching that will include, but not be limited to, mechanics and technique coaching, game strategy development and implementation, practice planning, player interaction and development, and in-game decision making. This internship is not a paid position, but has the potential for being compensated for certain expenses. A Goodpasture Christian School Football Coaching Intern will gain experience through hands on coaching, and will gain in-sight into what it is like to be a coach at the secondary level. This individual will understand and be willing to coach within the Christian mission of Goodpasture Chrisitian School. They will need to be comfortable communicating to players and to the head coach in order to add to the efficiency of the team’s performance, on and off the field. They will be responsible for instructing athletes on correct form and techniques in beginning and intermediate exercises to develop the maximum physical and mental potential in all players. They will oversee players as they develop and enhance their individual skills and abilities in one-on-one and group settings. They will be an integral part in game preparation. They will carry out in-game responsibilities including, but not limited to, position coaching, personnel management, game strategy communication, statistical data recording, opponent analysis and video operation.

Job Requirements:
This position requires an individual be a Kinesiology or Education Major with the desire to coach at the middle school or secondary level in the future. Previous playing experience in football is strongly preferred.
