Job Description:
WSMV-TV seeks a creative and detail-oriented video editor for its newscasts. We're looking for someone with sharp skills and a strong leadership in quality control. The editor creates a large number of video elements for each newscast, including opens, teases, stories, and preproduction, and take a leadership role in overseeing edits performed by others. Experience in non-linear editing required, experience with AVID a plus. Position could involve long or unusual hours as newscast needs warrant, including nights, weekends, holidays and/or overnights. Must have a strong working knowledge of current news events and a strong understanding of libel and ethics issues as they relate to video.
Job Requirements:
Minimum of 3 years editing experience in a local news environment. Previous editing experience in a production house environment will substitute for one year of news editing experience.
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of current state-of-the-art editing equipment.
Experience on Avid or other non linear editing systems.
Experience with Avid News cutter preferred.
Shooting experience preferred.
Good attention to detail.
