Athletic Association Golf Tournament Raises Almost $15,000

Vol State Corporate Cup Winners 2014The Volunteer State College Foundation and the VSCC Athletic Association hosted the 8th Annual Athletic Association Golf Tournament on the course of The Club at Fairvue Plantation recently.  “The Hottest Tournament in Town” teed off with a full field of thirty-six teams and a full slate of sponsors.

The net $14, 856 raised will provide scholarships, and equipment and facility upgrades, to support the athletics program at Volunteer State Community College.

The College recognized the Garrott Brothers Continuous Mix foursome as winners of the Paul Warren Memorial Corporate Cup presented by Volunteer State Bank. Paul Warren was Assistant Vice President at Volunteer State Bank prior to his death on December 1, 2011. Paul was an outstanding employee and well known in the community. He was admired and respected by co-workers, customers, and friends. He loved spending time with his family and was an avid golfer. Volunteer State Bank now awards the Corporate Cup Trophy in his memory. The Corporate Cup trophy will reside with Garrott Brothers until next year’s tournament when it will be replaced with one to stay there permanently. 2013 winners A Around the Clock Bonding received a permanent trophy as they passed on the Corporate Cup

The one-day, four golfer scramble included lunch and dinner for the tournament participants and volunteers. Prizes were awarded to three teams in three flights divided by scoring as well as longest drive for men, women, and seniors and closest to the pin completion. Golfers enjoyed four on-course activities of putting, chipping, poker hand, and corn hole contests during the course of play.

Tournament organizers thank all the volunteers and the staff of The Club at Fairvue Plantation for their exceptional service and gracious hospitality.
